Enabling citizens to advocate against all forms of corruption through ‘Network for Ethical Governance’

Anti-corruption course for community leaders and citizens

Our mission is to mobilize youth and the community in being the key change agents, while engaging to promote ethical governance, challenging corrupt practices and endeavouring transformative leadership with values.

This course is specifically designed to educate all members of the community to be leaders with values.  The course will equip them with knowledge, the methodologies & tools required to address the corruption issues that confront communities. It will build their capacity, self confidence to transform their leadership qualities to be key change agents for initiating ethical governance and develop community leaders. The course includes various exercises along with a 4 months field project work for self-reliance, social actions and community mobilization. After the successful completion of the course; community leaders & citizens will be fully equipped & will also be eligible to join the ‘Network for Ethical Governance’ (NEG) to continue our struggles for a just and peaceful society, respecting human rights.

NEG endeavours to practice and endorse principles of ethical transactions and operations urging citizens and companies to fight all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery. NEG initiatives are directed to strengthen ethical governance, combating corruption and upholding human rights. NEG aim is to consolidate democratic values to reduce poverty and challenge injustice, while consciously promoting cooperation amongst citizens to come together to confront and question inequality and promote peace.

So far ASTRA has educated 2850 youth & 350 community leaders and also promoted NEG in 9 Districts of Karnataka providing them complete technical support for  all their anti corruption activities.

RTI for MEDIA: Make public authorities information more accessible to journalists

With the support of Knight International Journalism Fellow Kannaiah Venkatesh, ASTRA has facilitated various RTI workshops & camps for journalists of leading print media at Chennai, Hyderabad & Bangalore.

This has helped journalists to use RTI as an effective tool to access public authority information, so that they produce investigative stories exposing corruption.
